Community invited to library events

A variety of upcoming programs are scheduled at the Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road.

The library will host a lecture titled “D-Day: The Longest Walk” at 2 p.m. March 19. Paul Zigo, director of the World War II Era Studies Institute, will discuss his book, “The Longest Walk,” the story of the 116th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army 29th Infantry Division from D-Day, June 6, 1944, to the capture of St. Lo, France, 40 days later. Discussion will focus on the regiment’s achievements after landing on Omaha Beach, which altered world history by turning near-failure on the invasion beaches of Normandy into success, ultimately leading to the Allied victory over Nazi Germany.

“Honeybees and Apitherapy” is set for 2 p.m. March 20. Dr. Pat Kotlar Paslawsky, a farmer, chiropractor and health enthusiast, will display various honeybee hive components and products and explain how the items have been used to improve human health over the years.

SCORE, the nonprofit organization dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses, will host a program titled “Should You Buy a Franchise?” beginning at 7 p.m. March 23. Guest speaker will be franchise advisor Mariel Miller. SCORE meets monthly at the library.
