Cheers and Jeers

Cheers to Chris Rock
For shading the elephant in the Oscars room. Seconds after the opening sizzle reel, Rock joked “I counted at least 15 black people in that montage” and then went on to a scathing monologue about “the white peoples’ choice awards” that tackled the #OscarsSoWhite controversy and set the tone for a truly colorful show. He definitely won for Best Black Friend.

Cheers to Rita Wilson
for her Girls power. While Hannah and friends whined through Marnie’s wedding day, it was Wilson’s hilarious pop-in as the brash, unfiltered mother of the bride that made the return of HBO’s comedy such a blessed event.

 Jeers to Survivor
for totally bugging out. That sound you hear is us screaming over those scenes of poor Jenny writhing in pain while some jungle creepy- crawly made itself at home inside her ear canal. The worst thing CBS has aired since The McCarthys.

Jeers to The 100’s Charles Pike
for putting the “jerk” in knee-jerk reaction. Sure, the sci-fi series’ hothead chancellor (Michael Beach) wanted to protect his people, but slaughtering 300 allies has us thinking this “patriot” acts out of fear and ignorance more than some real political leaders.
