Beginning this week, a New Jersey Department of Transportation (DOT) contractor will begin milling and paving Route 1 north between Raymond Road in South Brunswick and Aaron Road in North Brunswick.
Della Pello Paving is expected to work from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. and continuing during off-peak hours and weeknights for several weeks, according to a statement prepared by DOT.
Initial project work will consist of shoulder lane closures for sign installation. Project work consisting of milling and paving, the installation of ADA compliant curb ramps and pedestrian signals at each intersection is expected to start within a few weeks, according to DOT.
The $2.25 million state-funded resurfacing project will maintain at least one travel lane in each direction at all times to minimize the impact to motorists. There will be temporary ramp closures with signed detours during overnight hours.
The project is expected to be completed by early 2017.
Motorists are encouraged to check www.511nj.org for real-time travel information.
