Monmouth Arts will Sneak Peek the film The Meddler courtesy of Tom Bernard, co-chair of Sony Pictures Classics, at Bow Tie Cinema, Red Bank at 7:30 p.m. on April 21. A reception will be held from 5:45–7:15 p.m. at ChikyBoom, 51 Broad St., featuring Cuban tapas, wine and soft drinks.
Starring Susan Sarandon, Rose Byrne and J.K. Simmons, The Meddler is the story of recently widowed Marnie Minervini who happily relocates from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori, a successful, but still single, screenwriter, and smother her with motherly love. But when the dozens of texts, unexpected visits, and conversations dominated by unsolicited advice force Lori to draw strict personal boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eternal optimism and forceful generosity to change the lives of others – as well as her own – and find a new purpose in life. The film will be screened at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.
Tickets to the reception and film are $35 for Monmouth Arts members, $45 for non-members, and film only tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Monmouth Arts will be screening Maggie’s Plan starring Gretta Gerwig, Ethan Hawke, Julianne Moore, Bill Hader and Maya Rudolph on May 19.
