The Edison Police Department will be conducting their Junior Police Academy, which will be held in two separate sessions: Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The academy will be held at Woodrow Wilson Middle School, 50 Woodrow Wilson Drive, Edison. The academy is open to all Edison middle school students who are entering sixth, seventh, or eighth grade as of this coming September. Deadline for registration for the program is July 22. The class sizes are limited; students will be selected on a first come for served basis. The cost for the program is $100 per week, which must be payable to the Edison Municipal Alliance by either check or money order.
Activities to be held will include DWI education, K-9 demonstrations, fire demonstrations, motor vehicle stops, emergency response team, anti-drug education, drill and ceremony, sporting activities, a NJSP helicopter landing and more.
Graduates of the academy will receive a diploma at the graduation, which will be held at 1 p.m. on each Friday in the Council Chambers of the Edison Municipal Complex, 100 Municipal Blvd. Edison where family and friends are invited to attend.
