LONG BRANCH — Barnabas Health Medical Group’s fellowship-trained, board-certified breast surgeon, Manpreet Kohli, M.D., has received a three-year appointment as cancer liaison physician for the cancer program at Monmouth Medical Center.
Cancer liaison physicians are an integral part of cancer programs accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer (CoC).
Affiliated with the Jacqueline M. Wilentz Comprehensive Breast Center at Monmouth Medical Center, Kohli provides comprehensive breast care as well as medical and surgical expertise. She has a significant interest in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with malignant diseases and is a member of the multidisciplinary cancer committee at Monmouth Medical Center.
As a cancer liaison physician, Kohli will join a national network of more than 1,500 volunteer physicians who provide leadership and direction to establish, maintain and support their facilities’ cancer programs. She will be responsible for leading CoC initiatives within the cancer program at Monmouth Medical Center; collaborating with outside agencies on behalf of the hospital; evaluating, interpreting and reporting performance data through the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB); and facilitating quality improvement initiatives based on data findings.
Kohli earned a medical degree from Kasturba Medical College at Manipal University in India and completed her breast surgical oncology fellowship at Mount Sinai’s St. Luke’s Roosevelt and Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Breast Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians and Association of Women Surgeons.
