The Metuchen-Edison Area Branch of the NAACP, along with Hub City Sounds, New Brunswick Cultural Center, Piscataway African American Senior Center, Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission and AT&T, are sponsoring the 151st celebration of Juneteenth, which commemorates the ending of slavery in the United States, from 12-3 p.m. on June 11 at the Edison Job Corps Center, 500 Plainfield Ave., Edison.
The free event will feature students singing, dancing, speaking and performing other skills. Prizes will be awarded to the first- and second-place contestants. Vendors and artists will also be on hand. For more information, contact 732-841-9023 or [email protected].
The Metuchen-Edison Area Branch of the NAACP, Piscataway African American Senior Center and the Middlesex County Cultural and Heritage Commission will continue its celebration of Juneteenth by presenting the one-act play, “Harriet Tubman,” starring Dr. Daisy Century, at 7 p.m. June 15 at the Stelton Community Center, 328 Plainfield Ave., Edison.
