HOLMDEL – A graduating high school senior has received a $500 scholarship from a Middletown-based dental practice to pursue a career in health care.

At Holmdel High School’s Senior Awards Assembly June 14, Emerson Cooper was presented with the scholarship from Mitchel Friedman, a dentist with Newman Springs Dental Care in the Lincroft section of Middletown Township.

The grant is awarded to local graduating seniors planning to pursue a career in health care, such as medicine, nursing, dentistry, chiropractic, physical therapy and other areas.

“There were several excellent students who were worthy of the scholarship, Emerson just stood out from the other candidates” said Friedman, who added that his three children are products of the Holmdel school system.

Emerson will attend Stockton University in the fall and will study nursing at the school located in Galloway Township.

Newman Springs Dental Care, located at 539 Newman Springs Road in Lincroft provides general, cosmetic and sedation dentistry.
