Speaker to share story of Van Wickle slave ring

The Brandeis National Committee, Middlesex Chapter, will present a program titled “An Abominable Business: The Van Wickle Slave Ring of East Brunswick” 1 p.m. July 7 at the East Brunswick Public Library, Jean Walling Civic Center.

Guest presenter Richard Walling, director of the Old Bridge Village Heritage Center, will tell the story of the slave ring that operated in 1818.

Admission is free of charge. The public is invited to attend.

The committee’s July Social Justice Collection will benefit Operation Jersey Cares, an organization that sends care packages to active military men and women. Guests are asked to bring items for donation.
