Are you interested in being part of a group of dedicated teens who work to create a better Young Adult section at the Metuchen Public Library? If you are a Metuchen resident in grades 7-12, and if you have at least 15 hours to dedicate during the school year, then check out the Metuchen Public Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB).
Now in its ninth year, the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) promotes teen services at the library and to the larger community by: creating an inviting atmosphere in the YA Section; planning recreational and college-prep programs; working to increase the use of the Library and its resources among teens; and encouraging reading, especially YA literature. In addition, the TAB assists with the Library’s and the Friends of the Library’s events and initiatives when needed.
Teens earn community service hours for their time by attending monthly TAB meetings, attending TAB-sponsored programs, and by representing the TAB as a volunteer at other library sponsored events. The first TAB meeting of 2016-2017 academic year will be held on Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the library, 480 Middlesex Ave. To learn more about the TAB and to download an application, visit www.metuchenlibraryteens.org and click on the “Teen Advisory Board” page.
