The Joel Gensler Career Center at Jewish Family Services (JFS) of Middlesex County, Milltown, offers professional one-on-one career services for the unemployed, underemployed, career changers, and early retirees regardless of religious affiliation. Services include career planning, job search/job readiness, resumes and cover letters, interview preparation and practice, enrichment workshops, and access to job opportunities.
For specific issues facing women in the job market, the Women’s Center at JFS offers a free Job Seekers Support Group. The group is held on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 10:30-11:30 a.m. This is an opportunity to network with other women who are involved in the job search process. Women who participate will have an opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss the job market, review interview techniques, and learn ways to stay motivated in the job search.
The Women’s Center provides a full range of free support services to women who qualify as displaced homemakers — women who have lost financial support through death, separation, divorce or disability of a spouse or partner. Women can participate in computer classes as well as a variety of life skills workshops that focus on career, time management, coping with stress and financial education. The goal is to help women gain economic self-sufficiency and reach their full potential through education, job readiness, networking, outreach and referrals.
