LONG BRANCH- A Long Branch patrolman was found unconscious on Sept. 21 after being involved in a foot chase shortly before 2 a.m.
According to a press release from the Long Branch Police Department, Officer Michael Monahan was on patrol when he noticed what he believed to be several subjects with flashlights near an abandoned building by Westwood and Bath Avenue.

He was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center where he remains under observation for a head injury. According to the press release, the police department is optimistic for Monahan’s full recovery.
