Middlesex County celebrates emergency services volunteers

The Middlesex County Board of Chosen Freeholders held the annual Volunteer Appreciation Day to celebrate and applaud the efforts of emergency services volunteers throughout the county.

About 200 volunteer firefighters, EMS, Emergency Management and other volunteers and their families attended the celebration at Johnson Park in Piscataway on Sept. 25, which featured children’s activities, safety demonstrations, friendly competitions between volunteers, food and more.

“Middlesex County prides itself on its ability to prevent and respond to emergency events with efficiency and effectiveness. However, none of this would be possible without our volunteers. Their contributions should be commended by all of us every day of the year,” said Freeholder Director Ronald G. Rios.

“All of Middlesex County is grateful for the sacrifices and efforts of our dedicated emergency services volunteers,” said Freeholder H. James Polos, chair of the Public Safety and Health Committee. “They have families of their own, but when the need arises, these volunteers are ready, willing and able to leave their homes to protect our residents.”
