The second annual Purple for Pappas 5K will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 9 at Linwood Middle School, 25 Linwood Place, North Brunswick.
The race will celebrate the life and legacy of long-time North Brunswick teacher Aubrey Pappas, who was killed with her unborn son in a tragic automobile accident in October of 2014.
The event will begin with opening ceremonies at 9:45 a.m., and will feature raffles, prizes, music, special performances, and free food and drinks. WMGQ Magic 98.3, Thomas Sweet Ice Cream, UFC Gym and other supporters will be on hand with giveaways for all attendees. An awards ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the race, followed by an after party to be hosted by TGI Fridays, Route 1, North Brunswick.
Last year’s inaugural race was attended by more than 700 participants and volunteers, raising more than $10,000, which The Aubrey Foundation returned in scholarships to North Brunswick students and aid to local first responders. This year, the Purple for Pappas 5K will benefit The Aubrey Pappas Memorial Scholarship and Make-A-Wish New Jersey.
