Original play to highlight Halloween at library

The Old Bridge Public Library Main Branch, Route 516 and Cottrell Road, will host a variety of upcoming Halloween events.

The Hudson Shakespeare Company will present a live performance of the original play, “Tales of Edgar Allan Poe,” 2 p.m. Oct. 29. The work tells the story of high school students who accidentally get locked in one of Poe’s former houses. To pass the time, they read the author’s stories. Unbeknownst to them, the ghosts of Poe, his wife and his publisher are trapped in the house as well. As the teens read the tales, the ghosts eerily act them out. The performance is free of charge and appropriate for teenagers and adults.

A Ghostbusters Scavenger Hunt, open to youngsters in grades 1-12, is planned for 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Oct. 24-28. Participants will compete throughout the library for the chance to win prizes.

A Halloween party and parade for youngsters will begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 28. Children are invited to dress in their Halloween costumes for a story time and craft. After completing the craft, participants will trick-or-treat around the library.

Pumpkin painting is set for 2:30-3:30 p.m. Oct. 29. All are welcome to attend. Participants must bring their own pumpkin(s) and dress to protect clean clothes.
