METUCHEN — Police have arrested a Monmouth County man on charges he attempted to kidnap a 45-year-old woman at an office building on Durham Avenue two weeks ago. PatrickA.Williams Jr., 34, ofNeptunewas apprehended at 1:42 p.m. March 5.

Through an investigation, police learned that Williams was a former employee of a business located in the office building and had recently been terminated from his job.

“We are still not sure what his motive was,” Metuchen Patrolman David Liantonio said of the allegations.

According to police, the incident occurred around 2:56 p.m. Feb. 25 when the suspect, who was described as a 6-foot-2-inch-tall black male wearing a black and red bandanna covering his nose and mouth, grabbed the vic- tim by the jacket while still inside the office building and asked her to keep quiet.

The woman told police that the suspect dragged her outside the building, where she was able to drop out of her jacket onto the floor. She then ran back inside the building and called 911. Police saidwitness accountsmade note of a full-size black sport-utility vehicle leaving the scene at the time of the incident. The vehicle is similar to the one Williams drives, according to police.

“We contacted Neptune police and they searched his home and motor vehicle, a black 2008 GMC Yukon Denali,” Liantonio said. “Clothes that were found fit the description of what was described.”

Detective Robert Belluscio traveled to Neptune to apprehend Williams, Liantonio said.

“Based on the interview and the items found, we felt we had enough to arrest him on this [allegation],” he said.
