PBS will air a Call the Midwife holiday episode on Sunday, Dec. 25 at 7:30 p.m. (check your local listings). Follow the Nonnatus House family to South Africa after they receive an SOS call from a mission hospital that’s understaffed, underfunded and threatened with closure. Facing tough challenges, they dig deep to save Hope Clinic and make a difference. This season opened in the year 1961, with Poplar beginning to feel the winds of social change with the improvements in housing, sanitation and healthcare. But for the midwives and nuns of Nonnatus House, it’s business as usual, as they continue to care for the sick and bring new life into the world.
CBS will air The 39th Annual Kennedy Centers Honors on Tuesday, Dec. 27 at 9 p.m. Multiple award-winner Stephen Colbert will host and Martha Argerich, Eagles, Al Pacino, Mavis Staples and James Taylor will be saluted by great performers from Hollywood and the arts capitals of the world.
