Library participating in ‘Little Heroes at Home’ toy drive

LONG BRANCH — The Long Branch Free Public Library has a “Little Heroes” holiday donation tree located at the Circulation Desk at the Main Library at 328 Broadway.

Deployed military personnel will not be home to celebrate the holidays with their families, and Eagles Up! would like to make their children smile by sending each one a holiday gift to thank them for being “Little Heroes at Home.”

To participate, pick up a “gift star” at the Long Branch Free Public Library. The tree is decorated with red, white and blue stars inscribed with the age and a gift suggestion for a child of local military families. The ages range from newborn up to age 17, and gift suggestions include diapers, baby clothes and infant toys, dolls, trucks and games. Gift cards to stores such as Target, Walmart and Claire’s are suggested for the teenagers.

Unwrapped gifts should be dropped off at the library’s Circulation Desk through Dec. 23 with the star attached. Volunteers from Eagles UP! will distribute the gifts to the children of local military personnel who are away from home for the holidays this year.

Eagles Up! is a 501(c)(3) organization. To learn more, visit www.eaglesup.us or www.longbranchlib.org.
