Health benefits from a multidisciplinary approach to care

At Northeast Spine & Sports Medicine, patients can seek relief through physical therapy, chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, interventional pain management and/or non-surgical sports medicine.

“We have a team approach to treating patients, as we find that many people benefit from a multidisciplinary approach to care,” says Dr. Stacey Franz, Medical Director of Northeast Spine & Sports Medicine. “We hold daily meetings to discuss patient status, tailor care to fit each patient’s needs and address any barriers to care.”

When the practice opened in 2001, its focus was solely on chiropractic treatment. Over the years, it expanded to provide multiple services in six offices throughout central New Jersey.

“Our focus is directed at the musculoskeletal system, which includes the joints, bones, muscles and ligaments,” says Franz. “The majority of our patients complain of back, neck, knee or hip pain. Yet, we see multiple other conditions.  We work with adolescents to geriatrics, athletes, and non-athletes. We also see a small number of workers’ compensation and car accident cases.  The goal is not just to alleviate each patient’s pain, but to improve function and his or her quality of life.”

Treatments at Northeast Spine & Sports Medicine include spinal decompression, cold laser therapy, microvas for neuropathy, joint injections, regenerative medicine procedures (i.e. PRP & prolotherapy), spinal injections and electrodiagnostic testing (NCV/ EMG). Most procedures, including those that are ultrasound-guided or fluoroscopic-guided, are performed in the office.

Northeast Spine & Sports Medicine also works to educate the public about musculoskeletal injuries and ways to prevent them. “We recently partnered with Sportika and held an injury prevention workshop. We spoke with local athletes about proper stretching, injury prevention and concussion awareness.” You can also find educational videos about musculoskeletal injuries and prevention on the Northeast Spine & Sports Medicine website, Facebook page and YouTube channel.
