On Dec. 11, the Cecilian Music Club presented its 19th annual Cecilian Young Artist Competition Winners’ Recital at the Victoria Theater, New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark.
Students of Cecilian Club members must receive high scores during an audition process in order to perform in this concert, according to a press release from the club. Beth S. Chen organized the auditions and the concert.
Piano solos were performed by Saahil Ahmed, Liyuan Byrne, Andrew Chen, Jacqueline Chen, Sophie Cheng, Heejin Choi, Natalie Chow, Jenna Cooley, Eric Feng, Audrey Gang, Tsan Kenneth He, Brendon Hwang, Anna Hsu, Meghan Jin, Sammi Li, Christopher Liu, Cindy Liu, Jennifer Liu.
And, Alexander Luo, Katherine Luo, John Nguyen, Andy Pei, Marco Piserchio, Jonathan Shen, Amber Wang, Eric Wang, Sarah Wang, Anthony Wu, Evan Woo, Rosemary Wu, Elizabeth Yang, James Yang, Joshua Yi, Justin Zhang, Justin Zhong, Annie Zhao, and David Q. Zhu.
Piano duets were performed by Jeffrey Koc and Jake Cheng, Elizabeth Li and Amanda Chen, Cindy Liu and Anna Hsu, Joshua Yi and Julie Ham, and Nicole Wang and Jessica Lew.
Piano trios were performed by Andrew Lee, Justin Ham and Ashley Lee, and Matthew Shen, Olivia Park and Megan Shanosky.
Alyssia Liu and Sydney Thai performed a duet for flute and piano, and Joy Tan and Sydney Thai played a duet for piccolo and piano.
Krystle DiCristofalo performed a harp solo, and she and Kristen Redding played a harp duet. Alvin Liu, David Winograd, Jonathan Park and Nikhil Chakraborty performed a saxophone quartet.
The teachers who prepared students for the concert were Beth S. Chen of Marlboro, Gloria Y. Chu of Peapack, Ingrid J. Clarfield of Princeton, Grace Kuo of Parsippany , Julia Lam of Bridgewater, Chiu-Tze Lin of Manalapan, Lillian Livingston of Manalapan, Marjorie Mollenauer of Colts Neck.
