MILLSTONE – The New Jersey State Police is investigating the circumstances surrounding a two-vehicle collision that sent both drivers to the hospital on the morning of Jan. 10.
According to New Jersey State Police Trooper Alejandro Goez, a Lexus sport utility vehicle being driven westbound on Perrineville Road by Michael Parr, 75, of Manalapan, and a Chrysler being driven eastbound by Sandra Michaliszyn, 54, of Metuchen, were involved in a head-on collision at 10:12 a.m.
The collision occurred in front of the Millstone Township First Aid Squad building, according to a press release from the Millstone Township Fire Company.
The force of the collision caused the Lexus to overturn, while the Chrysler went off the road, according to Goez.
According to the press release, Millstone firefighters arrived at the scene and found Parr and Michaliszyn trapped in their vehicles. The firefighters used hydraulic rescue tools to remove the drivers from their vehicles.
Representatives of the Millstone Township First Aid Squad provided care to Parr and Michaliszyn.
Parr was airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, in serious condition, according to Goez.
According to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital personnel, Parr was still a patient as of Jan. 12.
Michaliszyn was transported by ground to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, in moderate condition, according to Goez.

As of Jan. 12, no charges had been filed in regard to the collision and an investigation is ongoing, according to Goez.
