Grants from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts to support Folk Arts Apprenticeships are now available.
Folk Arts Apprenticeship grants encourage cultural communities to pass on valued, traditional art forms by providing stipends to master folk artists who help apprentices develop important skills. The application process requires that each apprentice apply with a master artist as a team by providing artistic work samples, information about their shared artistic cultural backgrounds, and the planned scope of work.
A workshops for individuals and teams seeking assistance with the application process will be held from 2-3 p.m. on Feb. 5 at Folklife Program for NJ, 703 Jersey Ave., New Brunswick.
Program guidelines and application information for a Fiscal Year 2018 grant may be accessed on the council’s website at www.ArtsCouncil.NJ.Gov. Grants are for the period of July 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018. The application deadline is April 5, 2017.
