The 32nd annual Wilbur Ray Scholarship Dinner will honor nine Monmouth County community leaders and volunteers on March 11.

The event, which will be held by Brookdale Community College (BCC) at the Sheraton Eatontown Hotel, will recognize the significant contributions made by local residents and organizations.

The nine men and women to be honored include activists, professionals, community outreach workers and volunteers. They have done work in communities, such as Asbury Park, Hazlet and Neptune. Some of their work has even helped children and families across Central New Jersey.

Award recipients are Wanda Brauner of Howell, Ronald Dukes of Red Bank, Gerald Eugene Glisson of Paterson, Diteko Hammary of Cliffwood, Jordan and Joelle Hernandez of Hazlet, Yesenia Madas of Brick, Mychal Mills of Neptune and Lamont Repollet, superintendent of the Asbury Park School District.

Dinner proceeds will benefit the Wilbur Ray Scholarship program, which supports students of color at BCC.

The awards are named after the late Wilbur Ray, who was a police sergeant and active volunteer at the college and in the Long Branch community.
