Library announces children’s programming for March

Middletown Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Rd., Middletown, announces the following children’s programming for March 2017. All programs require registration unless noted otherwise. Register for events at www.mtpl.org or by phone at 732-671-3700, ext. 340.

New and special programs
The third annual NJ Maker Day will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on March 25. A statewide single-day event will celebrate, promote and introduce the Maker Culture to all. Science experiments, robotics, sewing, art, LEGOs and something for everyone will be featured.

Act It Out (Pre-K to 1st) will be held at 4 p.m. on March 9. Help tell the story. Each child will have a role to play in acting out the story. Sometimes an active game will be played after the story. Presented by retired teacher and volunteer, Douglas Bartow.

Abstract Art Panels with Nicole will be held at 3:45 p.m. on March 13. Tweens, ages 9-12, are invited to “get abstract” using paint, tape and a blank canvas.

An Engineering Block Party for ages 7 and up will be held at 3 p.m. on March 15. Legos will be out for ages 7 and up in the community room for an engineering challenge, just for fun.

Maker Monday will be held at 3:45 p.m. on March 27. Explore, predict, tinker and make. This program will allow young people to develop confidence, creativity, and an interest in science, technology, engineering, math, arts, and learning as a whole through making.

ScienceStarts: Learning About Energy will be held at 4 p.m. on March 28. Investigate and invent with your 4-7 year old and any siblings. Families will participate in hands on science activities as well as in a storytime featuring books related to the activities. Explore energy this month.

Drop in programs include homework help, developing a skill and fun creative crafts. Lapsit Storytime for prewalkers, Kids Playgroup, Simply Storytime, Math Tutoring and Reading Buddies, Lego building, and chess are offered.
