Mr. Schenkel, 75, of Keyport died April 24 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Sayreville, he resided there prior to moving to Keyport 20 years ago. Mr. Schenkel was the owner of Joe’s Plumbing and Heating, Keyport. Prior to that, he was a subcontractor at Trico Plumbing Co., Mountainside. He served with the U.S. Army during peacetime. He is survived by his wife, Carol Schenkel; three sons, Tony Schenkel of Metuchen, Bobby Schenkel of Indiana and Jimmy Schenkel of Old Bridge; a daughter, Linda Oleksza of South Amboy; two sisters, Anna Lingenfelser and Rosie Biegler, both of Pocono, Pa., a brother, Theo Schenkel of Jackson; and six grandchildren. A funeral service will be held April 28 at noon at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
Eileen L. Morrissey Kruzla
Mrs. Kruzla, 85, of Spotswood, formerly of the Fords section of Woodbridge, died April 20 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an assembler at White Westinghouse, Edison, where she worked for 23 years. Surviving are her husband, Frank; two daughters, Shirley Calabrese of the Cream Ridge section of Upper Freehold and Lorrie Erli of Aberdeen; a brother, Fred Morrissey of Toronto; two sisters, Peggy Baird and Ethel Smart, both of Newfoundland; four grandsons; and seven great-grandchildren. A Mass was offered at Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Interment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. Ronald H. DeMaria
Mr. DeMaria, 64, of West Long Branch, died April 22, at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York City. Born in Newark, he had resided in West Long Branch since 1979. He was a partner at the law firm of Genova, Burns, and Vernola, Livingston, and specialized in labor and employment law for more than 35 years. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. His professional achievements include serving as editor-in-chief of the Seton Hall Law Journal, ex-president of the school’s alumni association, and adjunct professor at Rutgers Law School. He was also recognized by New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of the outstanding labor and employment lawyers in New Jersey. Mr. DeMaria was predeceased by his father, Louis DeMaria. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Colannino DeMaria; a son, Ronald Anthony DeMaria of Tinton Falls; a daughter, Alyssa DeMaria of Davenport, Fla.; his mother, Florence Zottoli DeMaria of Brick; and a brother, Louis DeMaria of Metuchen. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at Holy Trinity Church. Entombment was at Woodbine Mausoleum, Oceanport. The Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, was in charge of arrangements. James E. Connell
Mr. Connell, 57, of the Parlin section of Sayreville died April 22 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was employed by BJ’s Wholesale Club, Edison. Surviving are three brothers, William of Palm Coast, Fla., John of South Amboy and Richard of Parlin; three sisters, Joyce Cassidy of the Morgan section of Sayreville, Barbara Sorokaput of Quakertown, Pa., and Alice Gonczi of Dunellon, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. Services were held at Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy.
