Brighton Avenue closed for a week in Long Branch

New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials on March 22 announced a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a week-long closure and detour of Brighton Avenue in Long Branch.

Beginning at 7 a.m. on March 23, until 7 p.m. on March 31, the two-way traffic on Brighton Avenue is scheduled to be closed at the railroad crossing between Sairs Avenue and John Guire Drive. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach. The following detours will be in place:

Brighton Avenue eastbound detour

  • Vehicles traveling east on Brighton Avenue will be directed to turn left onto Westwood Avenue, then right onto West End Avenue, right onto Sairs Avenue and continue to Brighton Avenue


Brighton Avenue westbound detour

  • Vehicles traveling west on Brighton Avenue will be directed turn right onto Sairs Avenue, then turn left onto West End Avenue, left onto Westwood Avenue and continue to Brighton Avenue
