JACKSON – The Jackson Township Council has awarded a contract for a project on Wright-Debow Road to the Earle Asphalt Company.
Officials took the action on April 11. The contract awarded to the company is in the amount of $701,513. According to a resolution passed by the council, Jackson’s purchasing agent determined that Earle Asphalt submitted the lowest responsible bid.
Other bids were submitted by Asphalt Paving Systems, $721,521; A Team Concrete Inc., $781,456; Black Rock Enterprises, $825,636; and Bil-Jim Construction Company, $864,305.
Municipal officials initially sought to undertake the Wright-Debow Road project in 2016, but work was delayed by a construction shutdown associated with a lack of money in New Jersey’s Transportation Trust Fund, according to a previous Tri-Town News article.
Township Engineer Daniel Burke has said work will begin at the intersection of Route 537 and Wright-Debow Road and extend east for about a half-mile. The improvements will include drainage, grading, widening, alignment, and curb and pavement reconstruction.
Burke said Wright-Debow Road “is one of the more significant through roads in town and it warrants the improvement.”
He said about $320,000 of the project’s cost would be covered by a grant from the state Department of Transportation.
