Police seek bank robbery suspect

EDISON — Township police are searching for a suspect in a robbery at Investors Bank on Route 1.

The suspect entered the bank, 561 Route 1, around 1:52 p.m. May 28 and handed a note to a teller demanding money. He then showed a small, black semi-automatic handgun, according to Sgt. Robert Dudash.

The suspect then supplied a black drawstring backpack to the teller in which to place the money. He obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and then left the bank in an unknown direction, Dudash said.

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion; about 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a thin build and in his mid-20s to early 30s; and wearing a black sweatshirt, tan pants, black sneakers, a black Kangol-style hat with white lettering, and dark sunglasses.
