The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education has promoted Colts Neck High School Assistant Principal Brian Donahue to the position of principal.
The board took the action on April 24 and said Donahue will become the building’s principal effective July 1.
The position at Colts Neck opened after it was announced that Daniel Simon, who has been the school’s principal since 2013, will become the executive director and principal of the College Achieve Greater Asbury Park Charter School. The charter school will open in September.
Simon took to Twitter to congratulate Donahue on his promotion at Colts Neck, saying he is an “experienced and talented educator.”
In other personnel moves approved by the board, John Hein was promoted from his position as the supervisor of extracurricular activities at Manalapan High School to assistant principal at Freehold High School.
Melissa Busco-Venuto was promoted to the position of assistant principal at Manalapan High School from her position of academic supervisor at the school.
Superintendent of Schools Charles Sampson spoke about the promotions and said, “I would like to thank the board for their faith in me moving around a lot of pieces over the last couple weeks with a few minor moves to come.
”We have a lot of work ahead of us with an exceptional team here from which to do that work. I am proud that over the past six years we have been growing our own folks who are ascending into their administrative careers.
“When you have the opportunity to promote those individuals for their hard work, everybody wins,” Sampson said.
Finally, the board will begin the search for a new director of curriculum and instruction. Jeffrey Moore, who holds that position, is leaving the district. Moore has worked in the district for 22 years in several positions.
