MANALAPAN – Numerous capital improvement projects in Manalapan will be funded following the adoption of a bond ordinance by the Township Committee.

During a May 10 meeting, committee members voted 5-0 to appropriate $3.06 million for various projects throughout the community.

The appropriation of $3.06 million includes the use of $80,000 that was unspent from a previous bond ordinance and a $148,803 down payment. Bonds in the amount of $2.83 million will be issued, according to the ordinance.

The appropriation will fund for the following:

• Acquisition of capital equipment including an Eventide Recording System, a tandem dump truck, and a crack fill trailer and loader.

• Buildings and grounds improvements including basketball court improvements in the Bucks Head residential development, and a new pavilion, fitness trail stone dust and features, and field renovations in the Manalapan Recreation Center.

• Road improvements in the Yorktowne development, in the Monmouth Heights development, on Deer Way, Department of Public Works site remediation, and a catch basin replacement in accordance with the storm water plan.

• Technology upgrades including six replacement servers and Barracuda Backup for data protection.

In other business at the May 10 meeting, committee members passed a resolution naming the road that leads from Route 522 into the municipal complex Veterans Way. The name of the road will be dedicated and unveiled with a sign in a ceremony scheduled for 1 p.m. May 29, Memorial Day.

Committeeman Jack McNaboe said the idea behind naming the entry road at town hall Veterans Way is to “remember those who paid the ultimate price for the freedom we enjoy every day.”

At 2 p.m., the Memorial Day parade will step off from the Manalapan municipal building and head down Route 522 to Englishtown. The parade will pass through Englishtown on Main Street and conclude at the American Legion building on Sanford Street, Manalapan.

All residents are welcome to line the parade route in Manalapan and Englishtown.
