Burt Carman
Mr. Carman, 83, of Manalapan, died March 11, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Boston, he had lived in New York City and Rochester, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan. He was a machinist at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York for 20 years. Prior to retiring, he worked in the New York Civil Court. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Carman is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sylvia Carman; a daughter, Leslie Swanson of Queens, N.Y.; a son, Stephen Carman of Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters, Jewel Lucero of Florida and Joyce Jennings of California; three grandchildren; and several friends and other relatives. A funeral service was celebrated at the First United Methodist Church, Freehold, followed by interment at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
Alma M. Randall
Mrs. Randall, 86, of Mercerville, Hamilton Township, Mercer County, died March 20, 2007, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Hamilton. Born in Trenton, she was a longtime area resident. Prior to retiring, she was a school nurse for 20 years at Chesterfield Elementary School in Chesterfield Township, Burlington County. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Allentown, and a past president of its Altary Rosary Society, as well as a member of the Allentown Villagers. She was also an active member of the Hope Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary for 47 years. Mrs. Randall was predeceased by her husband, Edward Randall, and a sister, Evelyn Hoagland. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Albert Roemer of Indian Mills, and Ellyn and Tim Tyler of Hamilton Square; and a son and daughter-in-law, James and Susan Randall of Fort Defiance, Va. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. John’s Church, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Allentown. Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, was in charge of arrangements.
