New water mains being installed in Aberdeen

Aberdeen Township is in the process of receiving new water mains.

New Jersey American Water announced that it is investing approximately $415,000 for the installation of the new water mains in Aberdeen.

The company said that it will install approximately 2,000 feet of new main in the area, a process that will replace water main that was put into service during the 1960s. Those old pipes will be replaced by PVC pipes.

The improvements, according to  New Jersey American Water, are part of a  multimillion dollar program to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that is reaching the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.

Crews are currently working in three areas in Aberdeen —Indigo Lane, from Idolstone Lane to Idlebrook Lane, Nobel Place, from the end of Nobel Place to Norwood Lane, and Line Road, from 606 Line Road to Lloyd Road.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of September and final street restoration will be completed in the spring of 2018, according to New Jersey American Water. For more information, go to newjerseyamwater.com.
