Temple Emanu-El, 100 James St., Edison, has the following events scheduled for January:
Shabbat Gospel Service in honor of Martin Luther King Day with the New Hope Baptist Church Choir, 8 p.m. Jan. 17. Its leader, the Rev. Ronald Owens, will be the guest speaker.
“Fulfilling the Dream: Jewish Takes on Social Justice,” 7-9:45 p.m. Jan. 18. A night of community study, with speakers from Neve Shalom, Temple Emanu-El, Beth Mordecai and the Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County. Special activities will be held for those ages 6-12. The program is free of charge, and refreshments will be served.
Shabbat Alive, Jan. 31, a joyous and participatory service with music provided by a three-piece band, starting at 7 p.m.
