Jackson DWI detail produces several arrests

JACKSON – Officers from the Jackson Police Department recently partnered with detectives from the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office to conduct a driving while intoxicated patrol detail that led to the arrest of several individuals.

Police reported that the DWI detail took place on Aug. 11 and resulted in 35 motor vehicle stops being conducted, 21 traffic summonses being issued and multiple arrests being made.

At 1:06 a.m., a teenage male was taken into custody when the 1997 Honda he was driving was found to have fictitious license plates. During the motor vehicle stop, marijuana was found inside the vehicle.

Police said the driver was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance while operating a motor vehicle, being an unlicensed driver, having fictitious plates and operating an unregistered vehicle. He was processed and released to a family member. The matter will be referred to Family Court.

At 11:48 a.m., Officer Jeff Henba responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a car and a utility pole on East Veterans Highway near Pitney Lane.

Police said an investigation resulted in the arrest of a 42-year-old man who was processed and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) while operating a motor vehicle, possession of CDS (Xanax) and being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a summons pending a court appearance.

At 2:12 p.m., Special Police Officer Thomas Parise and Officer John Roth responded to a report of an individual operating a vehicle in an erratic manner. The officers located the vehicle and a motor vehicle stop was conducted on Cedar Swamp Road.

Police said an investigation resulted in the arrest of a 69-year-old man who was charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He was released on a summons pending a court appearance.

At 8:06 p.m., Officer Brad Reider and Detective Sgt. Brian Haggerty of the prosecutor’s office conducted a motor vehicle stop with a 2014 Ford for a speeding violation on West Veterans Highway.

During an investigation a search was conducted and small plastic bags containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine were found in the vehicle and seized.

Police said the 49-year-old male driver was arrested and charged with motor vehicle violations, possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of CDS while operating a motor vehicle. He was processed and released on a summons pending a court appearance.

At 9:46 p.m., while assigned to the DWI detail, Officer Trevor Crowley conducted a motor vehicle stop with a 2013 Kia on Cassville Road. The stop resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old woman who had outstanding warrants from Bordentown. She was processed and released after posting bail, according to police.
