Holbrook had opened the Little League World Series with a loss to Fairfield American of Connecticut.
And today, Aug. 23, Holbrook ended its stay in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, with a 12-2 defeat to its nemesis ––Fairfield American.
The loss eliminated Holbrook for the Little League World Series and ended what was a wonderful summer for the team from Jackson. Its run included the state championship and the Mid-Atlantic Region title.
After Holbrook had opened the World Series with a 7-6 loss to Fairfield American on Aug. 17, it rebounded and erupted to score a 15-5 victory over Grosse Point Woods-Shore of Michigan on Aug. 19. The Jackson team then beat the West champion, Rancho Santa Margarita, California, 12-9, on Aug. 21 to avoid elimination.
Fairfield American will now play on Aug. 24 against the winner of the Southeast champion Greenville, North Carolina, and the Southwest champion Lufkin, Texas.
