METUCHEN — After a rash of burglaries to unlocked motor vehicles in Metuchen over the past few weeks, police nabbed a 28-year-old Linden man after conducting increased surveillance due to the burglaries, according to police.
Members of the Metuchen Police Department were conducting surveillance in the early morning hours of Sept. 9 on Spring Street when they observed a male allegedly enter an unlocked parked car on a driveway of a Spring Street residence, police said.
During the investigation, the suspect was found responsible for dozens of burglaries to unlocked motor vehicles in Metuchen and Edison.
Police Sgt. Arthur Flaherty said Metuchen charged the suspect with more than 16 counts of burglaries.
“We are still looking at unsolved [burglaries] and Edison charged him with double the amount and they are still looking at unsolved [burglaries],” he said.
The suspect was processed and transported to Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick.
The Edison Police Department assisted in the investigation.
