Matawan studio to expand to serve local artists

Chashama, which is a non-profit arts organization, announced that it has expanded its Space to Create and Present programs.

The new room for artists contains 11 affordable workspaces and two presentation spaces for artists to exhibit their work.

On Nov. 13, the Matawan Studios will open its doors to the public with its Opening Reception. The event will start at 5 p.m. and run until 8 p.m. at the studio that is located at 60 Main St., Matawan.

The event will feature work from the Chashama Collection, curated by Matawan Coordinator, Donna Kessinger, and music by Kortez Robinson.

The evening will also include tours of the studios and additional information about Chashama’s programs. Light refreshments will be served.

“This is truly an exciting addition to the area and for local aritists who are seeking space to work and display their art,” said Cathy Zavorskas, who is the co-president of the Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce.
