Manalapan resident charged with assault

MANALAPAN – A resident of Manalapan is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a weapon, following his alleged involvement in an incident on Nov. 2.

Police said that at 4:42 p.m. Nov. 2, officers responded to Route 9 south to investigate a report which indicated there was a victim of a stabbing present. The officers met with a 21-year-old male resident of Freehold who said he had been stabbed in Manalapan. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment.

An investigation conducted by Patrolman John Lightbody and Detective Kenneth Mikulik led to the arrest of a 20-year-old male resident of Manalapan who was charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, attempted robbery, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to police.

In other incidents reported by police:

• On Nov. 1 at 11:49 a.m., a 26-year-old Manalapan resident reported that his bright orange Motobecane bicycle was stolen after he had locked it to a tree on Union Hill Road at about 5 a.m. that day. The bicycle is valued at $400.

• On Oct. 31 at 12:50 p.m., a Freehold Township resident reported that a 6-foot by 10-foot landscape trailer was stolen from a storage facility on Wilson Avenue sometime between Oct. 28 and Oct. 30. The trailer is valued at approximately $1,500.
