Registration for the 2012 Sayrewoods South Men’s League will take place at the Old Bridge Parks and Recreation Building on April 19 from 7 to 9 p.m. The registration fee for all new players for the season will be $260. This fee includes 21 games from the end ofMay through the end ofAugust. Teams play two times a week for roughly 10 weeks, either Monday through Friday night at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday at 9 a.m., noon or 3 p.m. Ninety percent of the games will be played at Geick Park in Old Bridge, which is a premier field with lights and a synthetic grass infield. The other games will be played at either Waterfront Park in Sayreville or Phillips Park in Old Bridge. There will be three rounds of playoffs (best of three, best of five and best of five) starting the Tuesday after Labor Day and going through the middle of October. Included in the cost are field fees, umpires, baseballs, equipment for the team, a picnic for the family on Saturday, Aug. 11, trophies to the first-place winners and jackets to the winners of the playoffs. Not included in the registration fee is a uniform or bat. This year’s tryout will be held onApril 21 at Geick Park. All new players must try out and be drafted on a team. The league consists of eight teams with 16 players on each team. Go to handouts and fill out the new player registration form and bring registration form along with two forms of ID. For the 15th time since 1989, the Jewish Community Center of Middlesex County’s Blue Dolphins swim team, under the direction of Laurie Post, has won the state championship. Over 145 children and teens ranging in age from 5 to 18 are on the Stop & Shop-sponsored team, with another 25 on the training team. The Metuchen Recreation Men’s Softball League is looking for additional teams for the 2012 season. All games are played on either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday nights on Charles Field, which is lighted and has a turf surface. The season will start on April 23.
