Lichardi, Greitz will lead school board in Freehold Borough

FREEHOLD – Members of the Freehold Borough K-8 School District Board of Education have voted to keep the individuals who served as president and vice president of the panel during 2017 in place for 2018.

During the board’s annual reorganization meeting in January, the three winning candidates from the Nov. 7 election – incumbents Bruce Patrick and Margaret Rogers, and newcomer Joseph Santonacita – were sworn in to begin serving three-year terms. Patrick joined the board in 2011 and Rogers joined the board in 2013.

The board oversees the operation of the Freehold Learning Center elementary school, the Park Avenue Elementary School and the Freehold Intermediate School.

After all of the members were seated, the board held elections for the positions of president and vice president.

Michael Lichardi, who served as president in 2017, was elected by his fellow board members to continue in that position for 2018. Lichardi joined the board in 2009.

Susan Greitz, who served as vice president in 2017, was elected by her fellow board members to continue in that position for 2018. Greitz joined the board in 2011.

Board members appointed Bruce Padula to serve as general counsel.

The board will meet on Feb. 5, Feb. 20, March 5, March 19, April 9, April 23, May 7, May 21, June 4, June 18, July 17, Aug. 7, Aug. 21, Sept. 4, Sept. 17, Oct. 1, Oct. 15, Nov. 5, Nov. 26 and Dec. 10.

The board meets at the Park Avenue complex, 280 Park Ave., at 7 p.m. The July 17 meeting will be held at the Freehold Learning Center, 30 Dutch Lane Road.

The board is scheduled to adopt a tentative budget for the 2018-19 school year on March 19 and to adopt a final budget for 2018-19 on May 7.
