South Brunswick firefighters save Sarah Court home

SOUTH BRUNSWICK – When members of the South Brunswick Police Department were dispatched to Sarah Court around 1:58 a.m. on Jan. 28, they discovered a working fire in the attached garage.

All residents were safe outside as firefighters from the Monmouth Junction Fire Department arrived, according to a statement prepared by the police department.

The firefighters performed an aggressive fire attack from the interior and exterior of the Deans home and confined the majority of the fire to the attached garage with minor extension to the adjoining rooms, according to the statement.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in approximately 30 minutes but remained on scene until approximately 6 a.m., checking for hot spots, police said. More than 60 firefighters responded to the two-alarm fire, including firefighters from Monmouth Junction, Kendall Park, Kingston, Jamesburg, Plainsboro and East Franklin. The Franklin Park and Brookview Fire Companies stood by at Monmouth Junction’s Fire Station to cover the rest of the township. The Monmouth Junction and Kendall Park First Aid Squads also responded.

There were no injuries.

The fire is under investigation by the South Brunswick Township Fire Safety Bureau.
