MILLSTONE – The Township Committee has awarded a $9,125 contract for the installation of a digital recording system in Millstone Township’s municipal courtroom.
Committee members passed a resolution on Feb. 7 awarding the contract to Gramco Business Communications. The digital recording system will be installed in courtroom at 215 Millstone Road. That room is also where the Township Committee, Planning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment and other municipal boards and commissions meet.
According to the resolution, two quotes were received for the digital recording system: the $9,125 bid from Gramco Business Communications and a $10,666 bid from Office Business Systems. Gramco Business Communications was awarded the contract on the recommendation of the township’s purchasing agent as the lowest responsible vendor.
The passage of the resolution awarding the contract came as committee members introduced a $280,000 bond ordinance for improvements in the township, including technology and safety upgrades. The technology and safety improvements include a recording system in the municipal courtroom.
The contract awarded to Gramco Business Communications is subject to the adoption of the bond ordinance, which committee members are scheduled to vote on at their Feb. 21 meeting.
In other business, committee members passed a resolution authorizing the Monmouth County Mosquito Control Division to conduct aerial mosquito control operations in the township.
According to the resolution, the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders elected through its Mosquito Control Division to perform all necessary acts for the elimination of mosquito breeding areas and/or to exterminate mosquitoes in the county. The county has instituted an integrated pest management program consisting of surveillance, water management, biological control and chemical control to exterminate the mosquito population.
Through the resolution, the Mosquito Control Division is authorized to apply pesticides by aircraft for mosquito control in certain areas of Millstone Township designated by the county as larval mosquito habitats or areas harboring high populations of mosquitoes constituting either a nuisance, a health hazard or both.
