On the June 8, my mother had a stroke. She was having failing health each day, and her will to live was lost. We had wonderful individuals who gave us the comfort when it was needed the most. I will never forget those individuals who shared with Lucille Rogan’s family their gentle cares which showed us how to give our Mom and Nana (who is surely great), the dignity and peace she so deserved until she entered into eternal rest on the 25th of October.
Loving thanks is given to family and especially to her granddaughter, Jennifer. How blessed to have Mom be surrounded by love when she needed it most. Then there were the staff at Robert Wood Johnson University, John F. Kennedy Hospital, Cedar Oaks at AristaCare, JFK Haven Hospice with special thanks to June (R.N.) and Patrice (C.H.A.), Marc Mayer, M.D., and staff and associates at Avenel-Iselin Medical Group, CNJVNA Hospice staff with special thanks to Lola (R.N.) and Maria (C.H.A.), and a caregiver, Melanie Tothova, bless you all!
Words enough cannot express the gratitude that I have for each of these individuals who brought Lucille peace — many thanks. Very special thanks are due to EMS technicians in Edison, Chris and Dan, and Police Sgt. Keith Stein for being there on the night of the 8th of October and in Metuchen, Officer Keith Swistock and the CNJVNA hospice nurses, especially Robyn, that evening made a most difficult time focused on the comfort of Lucille. For all that you do, I want to let you know how much I appreciate your calm professionalism and gentleness shown to me during tumultuous times.
Mom gave her family a special gift. She had written a living will and designated a power of attorney. More than ever, I believe it is so important to communicate your wishes with family and make a living will and designate a power of attorney. Please consider doing it today.
