Old Bridge promotes officers to ranks of captain, lieutenant

OLD BRIDGE – The Old Bridge Police Department added to its higher ranks.

Capt. Scott Gumprecht and Lt. Peter LoPresti received their promotions on March 9.

Gumprecht is a veteran of the U.S. Army. He has been with the OBPD since 1993, where he started as a patrol officer. He has received numerous awards including Outstanding Physical Fitness Award upon graduating the police academy. Gumprecht also researched and wrote the department’s Field Training and Evaluation Program and became one of the first field training officers, according to a statement provided by Old Bridge Township.

LoPresti is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was first sworn into the OBPD on Oct. 5, 1993. He has served on the United States Department of Justice-Drug Enforcement Agency, the United States Secret Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New Jersey State Police Calico Drug Trafficking Unit and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office Task Force, according to the statement.

“These men are great assets to our township and I am delighted with their promotion,” said Mayor Owen Henry said in the statement. “I’m sure they will continue to work hard for the benefit of our community.”
