East Brunswick Library will hold Jewish history program

The East Brunswick Library will present “The Jews of Tsarist Russia and Bessarabia Before the Holocaust” from 2:30-5 p.m. on April 8 at the library, 2 Jean Walling Civic Center.

Professor Glenn Dynner, chair of Humanities at Sarah Lawrence College in Westchester, New York, will present the history of the region. Tamara Freeman, an ethnomusicologist, will lead selections of traditional and classical compositions, with pianist/composer David Schlossberg. Library Director Jennifer Podolsky, Rabbi Esther Reed and Rabbi Jeff Pivo will offer opening remarks. Dr. Barbara Reed of Rutgers University will recite one of Chaim Nachman Bialik’s famous poems.
