Our Lady of Victories fundraiser garners $3,000 for school needs

SAYREVILLE – The Our Lady of Victories School Home School Association raised more than $3,000 at an annual fundraiser to benefit the school.

The HSA held its annual beefsteak dinner on Feb. 24, which in addition to the dinner, also featured a tricky tray, prizes, rock painting hosted by Vintage Palette and a deejay. According to Jillian Leonard, the HSA’s treasurer, more than $3,000 was raised at the event. The proceeds will help purchase school equipment, finance educational events and maintain the building.

Melissa Krakowski, the president of the HSA, found the fundraiser was a successful family event.

“We thank our OLV parishioners and families who continue to support our annual events and volunteer their time,” Leonard said. “We also thank the Sayreville community and businesses for all of their continued support as well.”

OLV is a Catholic school in Sayreville founded in 1890 for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The HSA, according to the school, is a parent organization involved with making contributions to OLV School and organizesall fundraising activities. The income generated by tuition covers less than 50 percent of the operating costs of the school, requiring school fundraising and parish subsidy to cover the remaining costs, according to officials.

Pocketbook Bingo, the next HSA fundraiser, will be held on April 13.
