Two drivers injured in Edison accident

 

EDISON — Two motorists were injured during a two-vehicle collision on April 26.

The accident occurred on Route 27 near Terry Avenue at 5:25 a.m., according to police.

A 54-year-old Newark woman was driving along Route 27 when her Mercedes-Benz SUV collided with a Chevy Malibu, which was making a left turn onto the state highway from Terry Avenue, police said.

Firefighters had to extricate the 56-year-old Edison man from the Chevy before he was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with what authorities described as serious injuries.

The Newark woman was transported to JFK Medical Center in Edison for shoulder injuries she sustained in the accident, police said.

No charges have been filed in connection with the accident. The Edison Police Department’s Serious Crash Investigation Team is continuing to investigate the accident.
