MANALAPAN – The Manalapan-Englishtown Community Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse held its fourth annual Project ZERO 5K Fun Run on April 28 at the Manalapan Recreation Center.
The fun run was the culmination to a month-long project of raising awareness about alcoholism and drug abuse, and the Project ZERO campaign, according to a press release from the Manalapan Health Department.
Almost 200 people were present for the fun run. Mayor Jack McNaboe, Deputy Mayor Susan
Cohen, Township Committeeman David Kane, Township Committeewoman Mary Ann Musich and Township Committeeman Kevin Uniglicht were in attendance. Joining them were Manalapan High School Principal Adam Angelozzi and local running coach Bob Andrews.
Community sponsors were Platinum sponsors Dynasty Advisors, Englishtown Auction Sales and Suez Water; Gold sponsors Wegmans, Manalapan Diner and Precision Tech Home Services; and Silver sponsors Eli and Susan Cohen.
Additional support was provided by Arrow Pharmacy, Netcost Market, Manalapan Fitness and Wellness, Superior Home Team, and DJ services from Extravagant Entertainment.
Awards were presented to the top finishers in four categories. The runner with the best time for men was Srini Dugginini; for women, Michelle Sullivan; for boys (14 and under), Rowan Cassidy; and for girls (14 and under), Jessica Abbott and Ava Wilmot (tie).
The mission of the alliance is to meet the need for comprehensive alcohol and drug abuse awareness planning and programming to create community level change in Manalapan and Englishtown, according to the press release.
