• The Italian American Cultural Society of New Jersey invites members of the public to its Comedy Night on June 14 at 7 p.m. at MJ’s (Buttonwood Manor), Matawan. This will be a dinner and a show featuring the comedy of Uncle Floyd and the vocal performance of the society’s own Lou Orrichio. The cost is $35 per person for members and $45 for non-members. • The Allentown Public Library has announced that the Allentown afghans, which were created and sold by the Women’s Association of Allentown, are now available for the first time since 2008. The afghans were designed by Joanne Tourine and show nine historic structures, including the Imlay Mansion, Gov. Newell’s home, the Presbyterian Church, Abel Cafferty’s Mill house and the iconic mill and the Allentown Baptist Church that is now home to the library. The afghans are available in hunter green, cranberry and colonial blue. They are available for purchase at the library, 16 S. Main Street. All proceeds benefit the Allentown Public Library Association in support of the library building.
• A yard sale fundraiser will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 30 (rain or shine) at 24 Baird Road, Millstone Township. • The Allentown library, 16 S. Main St., Allentown, will present a program about “Estate Planning – Sorting Fact from Fiction” at 6:30 p.m. June 12. Attorney Paul R. Daniele will discuss wills, living wills, powers of attorney, estate taxes, trusts and asset protection. Daniele is a member of the Elder Law Section of the New Jersey Bar Association and a member of Lawyers with Purpose, a national organization that deals with estate planning. • Monmouth County has scheduled paper shredding events so county residents have opportunities to get rid of old documents and confidential files safely. • The Fresh Air Fund is seeking area residents who would like to host a child this summer through the fund’s Friendly Towns Program. The children participate in activities with their host family during their stay.
