COLTS NECK – The Township Committee has adopted an ordinance that will fund purchases and improvements in Colts Neck.
Members of the governing body unanimously adopted the ordinance on May 30. No one from the public spoke during the public hearing. The ordinance appropriates $417,050 from the township’s capital improvement fund to several departments.
According to the ordinance, $25,000 will pay for improvements to the field at Bucks Mill Park; $17,500 will be spent for computer upgrades in all departments; and the remaining funds will be distributed to the Colts Neck Fire Department, the Colts Neck Police Department and the Department of Public Works.
The fire department will receive $50,000 toward the future purchase of a pumper truck, $4,000 for portable radios, $10,000 for turnout gear, $6,600 for thermal imaging cameras and $25,000 for self-contained breathing apparatus.
The police department will receive $80,000 for patrol vehicle improvements, $5,800 for police vehicle in-car camera systems, $16,400 for communications equipment and $1,500 for improvements to the police firearms range.
The DPW will receive $23,000 for the replacement of a tractor, $10,000 for salt spreaders, $9,000 for a security camera system, $20,000 for a tire changer and balancer system, $18,500 for a truck lift, $18,750 for an industrial mower, $20,000 for a cardboard compactor, $10,000 for a welder, $10,000 for a street brine system, $30,000 for a fuel management system and $6,000 for a storage shed.
